OptoFidelity Frame Rate Meter (FRM120) is a professional instrument solution for measuring the true and objective frame rate of a video stream on a display. It is your best tool in R&D design verification and test laboratory use; it gives you the competitive edge!
Frame rate meter is a cross-platform testing tool. OptoFidelity owned patent technology TVG is a concept to insert the video markers. Together with marked video files, you can execute the playback, and get the results from devices no matter it is iphone, Android or Windows phone. It is also suitable for tablets!
FRM120 is a perfect tool for design validation and other R&D applications. You will get reliable and repeatable results fast, and with the standard USB2.0 connection, you can transfer all the data into your own test software and design database for complete analysis.
The frame rate meter comes with OptoFidelity’s test video generator software, with which you can create test videos of needed length and save them in the format of your choice. Supported video formats include AVI, mpeg4, other Formats as a options.
After downloading the test video file to your device under test (DUT), you simply run the video in your device and let the OptoFidelity FRM120 measure the true frame rate as seen on the device’s display.
The test results may be read to your own PC analysis software; OptoFidelity provides you with example analysis programs in .NET and National Instruments LabVIEW® formats with full source code.
You can, as an example, define the minimum, maximum, and average frame rate your display truly shows, or take a look at the frame rate as a function of time. With this, you can also find faults in design and problems in the interoperation between the different processes running in your device under test.

1. With the provided test video generation PC software, generate a test video file at the length and in the format you want to test your device under test (DUT) with. The software adds certain frame markers in the video stream.
2. Download the test video file into your DUT.
3. Set the OptoFidelity FRM120’s sensor (optical fiber) in front of your DUT’s display.
4. Connect your PC to the OptoFidelity Frame Rate Meter with the provided USB2.0 cable.
5. Start one of the example analysis pieces of PC software provided, or your own analysis application.
6. In the DUT, start running the test video file.
7. Analyze the test results with the analysis software.
